Notice on the Commencement of the First Semester of Academic Year 2021/2022

Dear CityU students,

To address students’ concerns about the commencement of the new academic year, it is hereby notified as follows, based on the current pandemic development in Macao:

1. The academic year will start regularly according to the academic calendar, please be prepared to attend the class in batches.

  • The evening classes of undergraduate programs (for local students) will be started on 23 August, 2021. Click HERE to download the Academic Calendar.
  • Classes for other students will be started on 30 August, 2021. Click HERE to download the Academic Calendar.
  • Please consult the Registry Office for details on the methods or arrangements for new student registration, which may vary depending on the pandemic development in Macao.
  • For the class arrangements, please consult with your Faculty office.

2. If students are unable to return to university at the beginning of the academic year, due to restrictions on entry to Macau or any other pandemic prevention policies, they may appeal application to responsible faculty office for online learning. Since all classrooms are equipped with devices to enable synchronized online connection, an integrated online and classroom teaching method will be implemented in the new semester, leading those who cannot return to Macao are able to attend the class online synchronously.

3. According to the request of the Health Department of the Macao Government, the university has to stagger the class time and the classroom in order to avoid the gathering of large crowds at a certain period of time, so the university will adapt a daily schedule of four time slots: 9:00-12:00, 12:15-15:15, 15:30-18:30, and 19:00-22:00 (A few classes may vary, please refer to the finalized class schedule).

4. In order to meet the requirements of pandemic prevention, all three campuses will be applied for class arrangements. Meanwhile, the university will arrange two adjacent classrooms for the same class, while teachers will use two classrooms to synchronize or cross-teach.

5. Students are advised to pay close attention to the entry and exit policies released by the Immigration Departments and the pandemic prevention policies of the Health Departments in both Macao and Zhuhai. Please make better arrangements for your entry and exit, housing, pandemic prevention, COVID-19 nucleic acid test, and attending classes as required.

6. The university will pay close attention to the pandemic development and any updated prevention measures. Should there be any adjustments, they will be announced on the official websites, TronClass or other platforms.
